The Drawing Box A5 Pop-up Show23 – 31 July 2022
The Drawing Box is an international initiative of autonomous artists, started by Ms. Diane Henshaw from Northern Ireland. A box of unframed A5 drawings travels around the world – already having visited Ireland, Cyprus, France, New Mexico, Greece, Netherlands and Scotland. After stopping in India, the box will travel to the USA, Lithuania, Australia and other countries.
The idea for the exhibition which is a specifically curated event was born in lockdown, and the works were created during the Covid pandemic. The box of drawings travels where artists are unable to – creating connections, new conversations and continuing the practice of art, both making and exhibiting. The initiative is coordinated online, from a Facebook group where artists consult and exchange ideas. Drawings encompass a wide range of different approaches, mediums and styles and the artists involved are from various countries creating new ideas, relations and audiences as the exhibition travels.
