An Eye is an Egg08 – 18 Nov 2024

Our eyes are our main way to connect with the physical world and play an important role in how we perceive everything around us. This exhibition delves into the blurry scenarios we encounter in those in-between moments right before going to sleep or waking up, when our senses trick us with what is real and what is not. Non-existent and nonsense images can generate visual and mental confusion, but is what we imagine so unreal? Or are we just genuinely connecting with existence differently?

The artworks presented relate to each other as children create tales in a playground. Photographs and objects intertwine with the heard stories and the lived experiences from now and before. The result is a combination where all possibilities are willing to coexist.

An eye is an egg when I go to bed,
An egg is an eye and I could be dead.

Artist Statement

My artistic practice starts with the photographic image and expands into other media such as video art, text and installation. Walking among everyday objects and common spaces, I search between the lines for the limits between reality and fiction, language and absurdity, to rethink how we know what exists.

During the time I have spent in ONKAF as an artist in residency, not only have I been able to find the time and reflection on my own practice, but everything my mind has imagined is related to the stories I have been told, the things I have seen and the experiences I have had in Delhi. The result is the project ‘An eye is an egg’ in which these experiences intersect to transport us to an intermediate space, between the lived and the imagined.
